Platamona beach stretches from the tower of Abbacurrente and joins to the beach of Marina di Sorso.
The bay, wide and covered by coarse reddish sand and pebbles with limpid sea, is loved by swimmers because it offers many facilities: bars, restaurants, parking, camping area. Nevertheless, Platamona beach is often quite dirty (one reason is because there are no chemical toilets).
Traditionally, the shallow, sandy shores of Platamona beach are crowded with Sardinian families with children, especially from Sassari and Porto Torres.
Non being protected by rocks, it’s very windy. When the mistral blows, the sea provides endless emotions for the passionate surfer and windsurfer. A part of the beach is frequented by nudists.
In the immediate proximities the freshwater pool of Platamona stretches out where typical plants grow and purple gallinule, white herons, and mallards nest.
